Royan is 25km from the campsite

After being destroyed on several occasions and completely rebuilt after World War II, Royan is now one of the most modern sea resorts on the Atlantic coast with a buzzing conference centre to boot. It has a fishing port and marina on the Gironde estuary. 20km of stunning beaches lined with beautiful forests welcome you for a relaxing break where you can unwind or get active with diving clubs, sailing schools, horse riding trails and cultural sites.
South of Royan you’ll find Saint Georges de Didonne’s beaches and Meschers sur Gironde’s cliffs and fishing nets. Venture a few kilometres deeper to visit Talmont sur Gironde on a rocky outcrop overlooking La Gironde and Mortagne sur Gironde for the best views of Europe’s widest estuary (14km).
Visit Mornac sur Seudre’s salt marshes to the north of Royan near the town of Saint Augustin. Stay on the coast and you’ll end up in the large town of Les Mathes La Palmyre which is home to forests, beaches and a famous zoo.
