10km from the campsite: Marennes

Marennes is an oyster breeding town famous for its huts. It produces vast amounts of oysters in the Seudre’s beds.
Try your hand at sea fishing and lake fishing in Marennes. Water babies will love the sports club and sailing school.
On your way from Marennes to Ile d'Oleron you’ll see Fort Louvois, a little fort surrounded by water in Bourcefranc Le Chapus on the Seudre estuary. Chapus is home to over 4000 hectares of oyster beds. It’s also the last stop before the bridge (free crossing) to Ile d'Oléron.
Venture a few kilometres north of Marennes to visit the seaside village of Hiers-Brouage. Most of the land is made up of incredible marshes just like the town of Saint Sornin and its famous tower, Tour de Broue.
